Waldo Mellon is the name given to Steve Adams when he was in a rock band at Dartmouth College fifty years ago. Why he uses it as a pen name for this, his first book, is a long and surprisingly sweet story. He has spent most of his life writing screenplays, three of which have been made into movies he is not particularly fond of. When he was eleven his parents died, and he and his three brothers were subsequently raised in the household of his aunt and uncle, Jane and Kurt Vonnegut, which may or may not explain things. He lives in western Massachusetts.
