Dr. Kathy Humphrey

Kathy Wilson Humphrey, PhD, is the 11th president of Carlow University. She has over 35 years in higher education and is revered as a transformative and effective pioneering leader. President Humphrey’s lifelong career has been aimed at providing students with an outstanding collegiate experience. She envisions Carlow as a University that can masterfully adapt to the changing needs of students, faculty, and staff. It is her greatest hope to ensure that a Carlow education is the best investment a student can make. Prior to joining Carlow, she served as Senior Vice Chancellor for Engagement and Secretary to the Board of Trustees for the University of Pittsburgh, having previously served as Vice Provost and Dean of Students. She developed a stronger culture of valued pluralism, created the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), and opened the first Community Engagement Center in Homewood. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has led efforts to provide the University community with platforms to engage. Dr. Humphrey serves on the Board of Directors of Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, Leadership Pittsburgh Inc., the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, and the Blood Science Foundation, among others. Dr. Humphrey holds a BS from the University of Central Missouri, an MA from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and a PhD from Saint Louis University. She holds executive certificates from Harvard Kennedy School and INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
