Dr. Carl Barnes

Dr. Carl Barnes, CDR, USN, (Ret.), Resilient Living Coaching, LLC, is a USN retiree of 35 years and retired at the rank of 05 (CDR). He started from the lowest rank of E1 (Seaman Recruit) and made it to Commander (O5). After a 15-year career in the USN (enlisted), he reported to the USS DENVER in January 1997 and after being on board 4 months, he requested to be discharged to pursue his dream as a USN Chaplain. At that time, he put a 15-year career on the line and stepped out in faith. The rest is history. The Commanding Officer was the only person that approved his separation from the USN. Carl had just reenlisted for 4 years, and the ship was getting ready for a 6-month deployment. A dream came through, when his request to get out of his contract was approved. In Sept. 1997, Carl was a free man and received his commission soon after. Carl holds five degrees. He is the author of Resilient Living: How To Turn Pain Into Purpose, The Bounce Back Effect: How To Soar in the Midst of Setbacks, 21 Day Devotional Nuggets for Resilient Living, and Resilient Sailing: 10 Lessons to Persevere in Life’s Stormy Seas, and co-authored one book.
