I am a 38 year old, single mom to a beautiful 5 year old little girl named Stella. 2 years ago in August of 2020, during the middle of the pandemic, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Early stage hormone positive breast cancer. I found it myself and saved my own life. I was lucky. Through it all, my daughter and my parents and family supported me. Treatment during the pandemic was extremely difficult as, I did all these treatments and surgery alone. As difficult as it was, it also gave me peace and helped me meditate and work on my feelings and organize myself. I planned and I prepared myself emotionally and mentally. People always ask me… “how did you do it? You are so brave. You are so strong.” I had to be brave and strong. I had to show my daughter my strength, but also my vulnerability. She showed me so much love and strength as well. During my healing, I decided that I wanted to help more women. I found a job in Oncology sales and I am loving every minute of it. I too have been able to take the test I sell to help me decide on continuing my AI after year 5. It has been a complete blessing for daughter and I. The test is called Breast Cancer Index and I couldn’t be more proud to be a patient advocate and spread the word about it.
