Debra Alkow
Debra Alkow has been an animal artist for over 30 years and an animal lover her entire life. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Save the Safari, a tax-exempt organization that raises awareness of animals and the environment through art. Debra is the creator of Draw, a long program that makes everyone an ‘animal artist’. She has performed at schools, environmental centers, museums, libraries, hotels and senior living. After going on Safari in Kenya, she created and performed the live show, Kenya Safari Experience. Debra wrote Kenya Tales, Lion Draw Along and Endangered Species. She earned an undergraduate degree in Radio and T.V. and graduate degree in Non-Profit Management. Debra has worked at many non-profit organizations in NY City and the Metropolitan area. She added to her knowledge of animals as a tour guide for seven years at the Bronx Zoo, and an animal handler for seven years at the Palm Beach Zoo.
