Sue Borrego

Dr. Susan E. Borrego is a skilled educator, administrator, and advocate with over 30 years of experience as a leader in higher education. She is a national voice for equity, leadership, and student success. Dr. Borrego begins serving as the Interim President of California State University Stanislaus, August 2. Known for authentic, creative and courageous leadership, Dr. Borrego has been building inclusive leadership teams, advocating for justice and equity and supporting student success. As a practitioner/scholar, she has led with the intention to build inclusive organizational environments. She has demonstrated the ability to motivate and foster a collaborative problem-solving climate and to establish rapport with multiple constituencies. She is keynote speaker and workshop facilitator. Dr. Borrego has spent her career as a University administrator, including the chancellor and a professor at the University of Michigan-Flint. Borrego's expertise extends beyond academia. Recognizing the importance of community engagement, she actively collaborates with local organizations and initiatives to foster economic growth and social progress. As the Chancellor of the University of Michigan-Flint, she provided leadership through the Flint water crisis. She has implemented inclusive policies and programs that support underrepresented communities. Dr. Borrego and her partner, Dr. Mary Boyce, are the parents of two adult children and nine grandchildren!
