Vanessa Kettering holds a PhD in positive developmental psychology with a specialization in health psychology and evaluation from Claremont Graduate University. She is co-founder of Way of Well-Being, an organization that offers stress management and self-regulation training for clients and groups working in the non-profit sector, private industry, and higher education. Her research and applied intervention work focuses in the eHealth domain, where she specializes in the use of technology and lifestyle interventions to promote optimal health and human development. She currently serves as a lecturer in Psychology in the California State University system where she has taught a number of classes, including: aging and adulthood, positive psychology, statistics for psychology, lifespan development, health psychology, and adolescent development. Vanessa was fortunate to be among the first group of individuals who have been trained as Mindfulness in Recovery (MIR) facilitators. She now serves as the Research and Evaluation Consultant of the MIR Leadership team. She is currently principal investigator of the Sustainable Recovery Study that supports individuals in their first year of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) recovery. When she is not behind a computer or in front of the classroom, Vanessa enjoys walks with her adorable (and amazingly resilient) rescue dog, Chloe, yoga with friends, and anything that gets her onto a dirt path or a body of water.
