Joseph Kalynuik is the executive chef of Windstar Cruises, a line that operates small luxury cruise ships. Chef Joseph ensures that each guest enjoys every meal onboard the ship as he prepares his dishes with intricacy and pride. As a young boy, Joseph was interested in cooking especially alongside his Ukrainian grandmother who would tell him, “Joseph if you’re not cooking with butter, cream and alcohol you’re just not cooking.” At the age of 14, in the Niagara area, he had the opportunity to start his culinary journey at Dominic’s Yorkshire House where Chef Dominic Chirico, a Swiss Chef, refined his skills. Joseph felt the passion of cooking and has never left the kitchen since. He completed his schooling at St. Catharine’s Ontario with advanced studies in accounting and business practices and furthered his culinary studies in New Brunswick, Canada, attaining honors with a Culinary Certified Red Seal in 1993.
