Gary Morgenstein

Gary Morgenstein

Gary Morgenstein became a writer to escape his crazy family. He wrote his first story, about baseball, when he was eight. At SUNY at Stony Book, he fooled himself that he wanted to be a lawyer. A year at St. John’s University Law School cured that. Now that he was a failure, his parents said he needed a job. Gary got a part-time position at Newsday [Long Island NY’s main newspaper] writing high school sports. But the limitless world of fiction inspired him along with Ernest Hemingway and Philip K. Dick. He even tried out for the Yankees to promote his second novel. Then he read Arthur Miller plays and got hooked on theater, too. Healthy addiction. Seven plays, numerous awards later…For many years, Gary juggled writing and working in television PR like Syfy. He was the PR genius behind Sharknado. One Sunday morning over breakfast of an everything bagel with a schmeer, the door to the other side opened and in came his dystopian trilogy The Dark Depths beginning in 2098 after America’s lost WW3 to the Islamic Empire. And The Boys of Summer Save the world.
