Carl Unegbu

Carl Unegbu is considered the foremost authority on comedy and the law. This is the second book for Unegbu, the first being Comedy Under Attack (2003). Unegbu studied journalism at Columbia after graduating law school at the University of Miami. Prior to his admission to the New York bar, he practiced law in Miami and served as a law clerk at the International Court of Arbitration in Paris. He was a reporter at The Real Deal Magazine before taking on the editorship of Comedybeat.com. His articles have appeared in Reuters Forum Journal, World Policy Magazine, New York Review of Magazines, Gotham Gazette, City Limits and New Your County Lawyer. He also hosted the industry forum Comedy Dialogue, a quarterly series held in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, featuring stand-up comedy performances and panel discussions involving some of the comedy industry’s best and brightest talents. Unegbu, a New York attorney, was the longtime editor of Comedybeat website and subsequently the writer of a highly-read blog called O’Carl’s Law focusing on the intersection between comedy and law.
