Brian Barber, Sr. is the president of Mission FISH: Fishing, Interacting, Sharing and Healing, an organization dedicated to supporting Veterans, Active-Duty Service Members, First Responders, and Gold Star Families struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety. Since its inception in 2015, Mission FISH has provided coping tools and resources to heroes and their families throughout California, utilizing FISH therapy to harness the restorative qualities of nature and peer camaraderie. As a Veteran himself, Brian understands the profound impact of fishing as a healing tool, having experienced its therapeutic benefits firsthand while fishing in the Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California. He founded Mission FISH with the goal of offering accessible trauma therapy through immersive fishing experiences, providing a safe community space for sharing experiences and learning coping tools. Under Brian's leadership, Mission FISH partners with trauma therapists who fish alongside participants during their programs, ensuring a supportive environment where barriers to healing such as stigma and accessibility are removed.
