Dr. Sam Windham
Dr. Sam Windham serves as the medical director for the Legacy of Hope. Following medical school at UAB (The University of Alabama at Birmingham), he then continued his training for five years in general surgery, and then pursued one additional year of fellowship in surgical critical care and trauma surgery. With that training, he joined the staff at UAB in 2001 where he has served roles as trauma surgeon, director of surgical intensive care unit, and acute care surgeon for emergency cases. His career has also included research in the fields of trauma, critical care, and exercise physiology. He joined the staff of Legacy of Hope in 2015, initially serving as a consultant for donor management, but then became medical director of Legacy of Hope in 2020.
