This is the week for script Ohio, but we won’t be dotting the “I” at midfield. Instead we will be talking with two bandleaders in Ohio – former rider Mike Manganello and Thistledown’s on-air handicapper Rich Ruda. Most remember Manganello for his 1970 victory in the Kentucky Derby, but he will be celebrated at the track as it is the 50th anniversary of his win in the Ohio Derby aboard Te Vega. He also won over 1,000 races in the Cleveland area during his storied career. Handicapper Rich Ruda is a lifelong horseplayer, who has been the on-air handicapper for Thistledown for 10 years .
