Dr. Michael Anestis

Dr. Michael Anestis is the Executive Director of the New Jersey Gun Violence Research Center and an Associate Professor of Urban-Global Public Health at Rutgers University. His work focuses on the role of firearms in suicide and he is the author of over 160 peer reviewed articles and the book entitled Guns and Suicide: An American Epidemic. He was the 2018 recipient of the Edwin Schneidman Award from the American Association of Suicidology in recognition of early career achievement in suicide research and he has been a named investigator on approximately $5 million in externally funded suicide prevention grants.
