Dr. Melhem is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. She has been studying trauma and bereavement in children for the past decade. Her publication in the September issue of the Archives of General Psychiatry looking at the course of grief in children and adolescents garnered national attention, as it was the first longitudinal study of its kind addressing this issue.
