After a murder, the people who have lost a loved one are often engulfed by feelings of guilt, shame, isolation, and anguish. The EMIR Healing Center provides concrete, practical, and compassionate support to help them heal. Its strong connection to the community gives people access to life-saving information and, in time, helps them recreate hope and a desire to live.
Why are violence and murder ordinary in some communities? How can we interrupt and undo the personal and societal attitudes that perpetuate violence and suffering? How can institutionalized and internalized racism be overcome?
