Why is it so important to connect with others who "get it" during and after cancer treatment? Often, there is a sense of isolation and loneliness at this time. Supportive friends and family may be around, but they may not know the right things to say or what to do. Breast Friends has developed a wonderful program we call "Girls Nite Out." It serves to support sisterhood and we all need girlfriends! The monthly support groups are a time to share cancer journeys, interests and make new friends. Breast Friends is lucky to have these three amazing women as the leaders of the Girls Nite Out Program (GNO) around the Portland area. These monthly groups get together for connection, cancer support and friendship. Andrea (“Andi”) Jarvis leads the East Multnomah County GNO group and came to Breast Friends in 2015. She has worked as a real estate broker for 13 years for Pete Anderson Realty. Prior to that she worked in the health care industry and airline service management. Andi is passionate about leading her group and helping to bring women together who “get it.” Debbie Vuylsteke leads the Western Washington County GNO group and has been a part of Breast Friends for over 13 years.
