Jonathan Horowitz

Jonathan Horowitz began announcing at the age of 14 when he became the youngest person ever to call a horse race in the United States at California’s Los Alamitos Race Course in 1999. He is currently the racetrack announcer at Zia Park in Hobbs, New Mexico, and at Arapahoe Park outside Denver where he performs various other racetrack responsibilities as well. For several years he was also the American guest announcer at the Glorious Goodwood Festival in England. Gary Johnson

Professional Handicapper Gary Johnson has seen the sport of racing from many sides. An accomplished trainer, he won 26 meets at Thistledown and one at Mountaineer Park. In 2001 he finished 7th nationally in number of wins with 205 victories, in 2000 he was ranked 13th and in 2002 18th. Gary has also worked as a jockey agent, chart caller for Equibase and is the current track handicapper for Beulah Park. A consummate handicapping contest competitor, over the past several years Gary has consistently qualified for the National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas.

Several graded stakes winners from around the country have been nominated to the "Land of Enchantment Day" which will feature the first running of the $300,000 Zia Park Oaks for 3yo fillies at 1 1/16 miles, the $200,000 Zia Park Derby for 3yo at 1 1/16 miles, the $150,000 Zia Park Distance Championship for older horses at 1 1/8 miles, the $140,000 Eddy County Stakes for 2yo bred in New Mexico at 1 mile, and the $55,000 Zia Park Distaff for fillies and mares at 6 furlongs. Jonathan will join John in handicapping those races. In the second segment consistent qualifier for the National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas, Gary Johnson will join John in handicapping the major stakes races at Delta Downs on Saturday, November 23.
