Ep. 1: Women in Business and Ep. 2: Arctic Health
November 21, 2018
Hosted by Kathryn Zox
Kathryn interviews trainer and coach Lorraine Ferguson, author of “The Unapologetic Saleswoman: Breaking the Barriers, Beating the Odds”. Many women are deterred from pursuing sales careers out of a fear that they will be judged by standards set by men. Illustrated with case studies drawn from Ferguson's own career and her experiences training other saleswomen, Ferguson shows how women can gain trust and respect by being both assertive and collaborative. Kathryn also interviews Thomas Sims MD, author of “On Call in the Arctic: A Doctor’s Pursuit of Life, Love, and Miracles in the Alaskan Frontier”. Imagine a young doctor in 1972, trained in the latest medical knowledge and state-of-the-art equipment, suddenly transported back to one of the world’s most unforgiving environments—Nome, Alaska. Dr. Sims’ memoir reveals the thrills and terrors of frontier medicine, where he had to rely on his instincts to persevere against all odds and help his patients.
