Episode Description

PTSD is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is usually associated with people who served in the military. Until recently, very few people ever heard of PTSD. We may have a grandfather or family member who served in WWII or VietNam who “wasn’t quite the same when they returned.” Family would whisper, he has battle fatigue or shell shock. Fortunately both the medical and psychological fields now recognize PTSD is a serious issue which if left untreated can lead to grave consequences.PTSD is no longer just considered a military related issue. Trauma, addiction and PTSD can happen to everyone at any time. Given the current state of civil unrest and division in our country many PTSD suffers are Veterans, 1st responders, police, business people, ministers, professional athletes, the guy next door and more recently, teachers, and students at every level– these are children who are terrified to go outside or even go to school. This is serious stuff folks.

Everyone has those AHA moments or events that change our lives for better or worse. These life altering events occur in every aspect of our professional, personal, and in the lives of our family. Try as we may, it is impossible to completely separate the events in our personal life from our professional life. Believe me, I tried and failed miserably. Life altering events present us with opportunities to seize the moment and make difference in our own life, the lives of our loved one, friends and business associates. They also can be a fork in the road where we can fall apart or pick up the pieces and start moving forward toward better times and better people. It is never too late to have the life you want and deserve. Let’s talk about it.
