There are lots of shooting instructors throughout the world these days, but not many true "teachers." This week Marty welcomes a shooting teacher to he show in David Dobson, the Head Coach of the Jacksonville University Shooting Team. As we have noted on prior Wing & Clay Nation episodes, clay target shooting is the fastest growing scholastic and collegiate sport in America. David Dobson has been teaching shooters since 1998, and in 2009 he founded the Jacksonville University Shooting Team. Over the years, the team has had remarkable success with numerous individual national champions in trap, skeet and sporting clays as well as divisional national championships for the overall team. Marty and David will discuss at length the rise in collegiate clay target shooting as well as how David turned JU into a national power. Marty will also have the latest Wing & Clay News from across the industry as well as updates on upcoming wing and clay target events.

Marty Fischer is one of America’s best-known outdoor celebrities. A graduate of Georgia Southern College, he has been an outdoor television host for almost three decades on shows like Suzuki Great Outdoors on ESPN, Shotgun Journal on the Outdoor Life Network, TNT Outdoor Explosion and “If It Flies…” on the Pursuit Channel. He is a well-known outdoor writer who has authored two books, The Gun Digest Book of Shotgunning and Limbhangers and 4-Letter Words, a book on turkey hunting. In addition to his books, he has written articles for many of the top outdoor magazines on the market. Marty is a NSCA Level III Certified Instructor who has been coaching wing and clay shooters for more than 35 years. He was recently called “the most famous left handed wingshooter in the world” by the popular Shotgun Life website. He is an avid upland bird, waterfowl and turkey hunter who has harvested more than 100,000 gamebirds in 11 countries on four continents around the world and in more than 35 U.S. states. Marty has been a finalist in the World Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas on four occasions, including a Top 5 finish in that event. He is also a public speaker and President of SportShooting Consultants, Ltd., a gun club design and consulting company that he has owned and managed since 1992.
