Episode Description
A White House Gender Policy Council sounds like its purpose is to help BOTH genders-but NOT Biden's Council. His excludes boys and men and only helps girls and women! Yet, despite what Biden and his Council would have you think, boys and men are in trouble, in terms of education, jobs, fatherlessness, physical health and emotional health. Today's three guests are all members of an organization - unrelated to President Biden - called the White House Council on Boys and Men. Even before Biden became President, this organization has been working towards establishing such a Council in the White House to address the special concerns of boys and men. How ironic and sad, then, is the fact that Biden's Gender Policy Council excludes boys and men! Psychologist Dr. Warren Farrell is the author of bestselling books about male psychology, including The Boy Crisis. He's been a pioneer in both the men's and women's movements - including being elected to the board of N.O.W. Laurie A. Couture is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the author of Instead of Medicating and Punishing, and the upcoming book, Nurturing and Empowering Our Sons. She is not only an expert by training, but also through her own experience of having adopted a boy from the foster care system who ultimately committed suicide. Bill Amatneek is the author of Heart of a Man, a collection of stories written by men that gives insight into who men really are, in the hopes that it will bring men and women closer together. Each of these guests bring their own perspective and efforts towards the goal of the WHCBM, and the current campaign to get President Biden to add the needs of boys and men to his White House Gender Policy Council.
