Episode Description

It's a New Year, and I like to try new things, learn new things, and occasionally, I discover a new hobby or region that is just awesome. So join me today in the Northern Rhone region of France for some amazing wines. Now I have to be honest, these wines are not exactly budget friendly, but they are always worth their price, at least from my perspective. We'll start with the Northern most region of Rhone, Cote Rotie, and travel south to the very edge, just before crossing into the Southern Rhone. These vineyards are based along the Rhone river, and in the Northern section many of them are on hilltops or the steep sides of hills. The terrain is rocky, the winds are strong, and the grapes as well as their growers must be hearty. This is the land of Syrah, and only Syrah for the reds, and the primary white grape is Viognier, and only Viognier. If you have a questions, please email it to AroundtheWorldinaGlass@hotmail.com

Around the World in a Glass explores the wine and alcohol beverage regions of the world. We focus on a region, grape or style, and answer questions such as what makes it so special, where it is, what style of wine or beverage produced, and how to understand the labels. Our winery and regional guests talk about their wines and regions, we discuss specific wines from that region, and take part in tasting wines from there. In addition, we'll answer your questions, discuss stemware, wine and food pairings, places to eat, and tours or features. Some of the regions we'll explore are Champagne, Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Burgundy, Loire, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Rhone, and many more. We’ll also feature other beverages besides wine, including Single Malt Scotch, Well Aged Rum, Gin, Tequila, Mescal, Cognac, Vodka and more regional and style explorations.
