Special Encore Presentation: Russia Update with Chuck Johnson, National Council for Adoption
March 16, 2013
Hosted by Kelly Ellison
Most of us clung to the media over the holidays waiting to hear if President Putin would ban adoptions by the US. On December 28th,the Russian President signed into law a ban of Russian children by US citizens. 52 families had already received a judge’s order approving their adoption. 102 families had visited their child for the first but did not have the signed order from a judge. Of the 52 families, 32 of these adoptions have already been completed. Of the 102 families, they still wait; waiting for the political arena to shift. No one knows more or is more committed to working toward an agreement than Chuck Johnson, President of the National Council for Adoption. Chuck has worked for years with Russia to create a treaty which was signed on November 1, 2012, only to have the whole thing unravel on December 28th. You will definitely want to tune in for this show as we discuss the series of events that led up to the ban and how it has had such a HUGE ripple effect for so many.

Your Adoption Coach is designed to reach prospective and current adoptive families, couple, and singles with the resources they need to successfully bring their family together. We will examine international and domestic adoption, resources, costs, stories, highlight innovative agencies and bring the touching stories of families struggling and succeeding to the forefront. There is no greater community builder than Adoption! When we educate and encourage others to become involved, more people are inspired to adopt or be a part of a community of adoption. Our show aims to educate and inspire others to get involved in building a family be it on their own or helping someone close to them bring their family home together forever.
