“The Smart One” and “Eaten by the Tiger”
May 8, 2013
Hosted by Kathryn Zox
Kathryn interviews author Jennifer Close on her latest book “The Smart One”. With her bestselling novel Girls in White Dresses, Jennifer Close captured friendship in those what-on-earth-am-I-going to-do-with-my life years of early adulthood. Now with her intriguing new novel of parenthood and sibling rivalry, she focuses on the only thing messier than friendship: family. Her work has been praised by Vanity Fair, Redbook and The New York Times. Kathryn also interviews inspiration speaker, writer, and surgeon Dr. Emile Allen on his book “Eaten by the Tiger: Surrendering to an Empowered Life”. In 1998 Dr. Emile Allen barely escaped electrocution while saving a patient's life. In a split second Dr. Allen went from performing intricate surgical procedures to struggling to do simple tasks like reading a book or counting change. Dr. Allen journals lessons learned from recovery from extreme physical as well as emotional and psychological losses.
