Managing Inflammatory Bowel Disease Through Food and Nutrition
April 15, 2016
Hosted by Hemda Mizrahi
Over five million people worldwide have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), notably Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis (UC). Both are autoimmune conditions that cause damage to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. While neither are curable at this time, they are treatable. What you eat can have a profound impact on how you feel and your disease activity, yet the importance of food and nutrition is frequently overlooked or misunderstood. Many people with IBD are confused about what they should eat and frustrated by the shortage of good advice and excess of conflicting information. This episode will address the important role that nutrition plays in managing IBD, answer frequently asked questions about dietary choices, and empower people with IBD to use food to manage their disease.
