This episode will feature special guest Martha Diamond, Ph.D. to discuss the concepts of the reproductive story and attachment. Dr. Diamond, an expert in the field of reproductive loss and founding member of The Center for Reproductive Psychology, will bring an in-depth look into the losses that can take place after an abortion. Michaelene and Skyler will also discuss with Dr. Diamond how attachment to an unborn child can begin even before conception, and how that can affect the impact that an abortion experience can have on an individual.

Hosts Michaelene Fredenburg and Skyler Christensen, along with their guests, will gently delve into the silent pain that can accompany reproductive grief and loss. In addition to gaining insight into the healing process, listeners will be given practical tools to best care for hurting family members and friends. Show segments include “I Care Tips,” resource highlights, question of the week and featured topics such as reproductive trauma, disenfranchised grief, healing models and safe place language.

Michaelene Fredenburg with Co-Host Skyler Christensen

Michaelene Fredenburg is an author and frequent speaker at universities and events. With 25 years of experience in the area of after abortion care and healing, she has written numerous articles about reproductive grief and loss. Michaelene has participated in over 100 radio and television programs. She has also advocated before United States House and Senate Committee hearings about the need for studies that evaluate the emotional and physical impact of all pregnancy outcomes, and has presented to physician delegates from Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan through the State Department’s International Visitors Program. She is the founder of the Abortion Changes You outreach, which is designed to help hurting men and women who have been touched by abortion.

Leslie Brunolli


Leslie Brunolli is a woman who's decision to have an abortion haunted her for decades. After attending a healing retreat she finally found peace and forgiveness. Leslie publicly shares her story at conferences and seminars. Martha Diamond, Ph.D.


Martha Diamond, Ph.D. received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Michigan. She is co-founder and co-director of the Center for Reproductive Psychology in San Diego, California. Dr. Diamond is coauthor of Unsung Lullabies: Understanding and Coping with Infertility (2005) and Reproductive Trauma: Psychotherapy with Infertility and Pregnancy Loss Clients (2011). In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Diamond has lectured nationally and internationally on reproductive issues, including the psychological trauma of unexpected reproductive events such as unplanned pregnancy, miscarriage, infertility, and other reproductive losses. She also conducts in-service training for medical professionals on the psychological impact of adverse reproductive events and the emotional needs of their reproductive patients. View Guest page

The Helpline is one part of an abortion recovery organization that offers professional counseling on a sliding scale, an international 24/7-365 call center (866-482-5433), recovery weekends and leader training. Millie is a professional counselor, has conducted workshops at the United Nations, presented at the Watchmen on the Wall Pastor’s Briefing in Washington, D.C. and is past president of the Arkansas Mental Health Counselor’s Association. Sharon St. Pierre


Sharon St. Pierre has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 10 years. She got her master's in social work from the University of Southern California. Her experience includes working with individual adults and children as well as couples and families struggling with different mental health disorders. For the last 7 years she has co-lead group workshops for Latino preteen girls and boys focusing on self-esteem, character building and goal setting. These workshops aim to motivate students to reach their higher educational goals. She works as the part time Clinical Supervisor for the Counseling Department of Catholic Charities of Orange County overseeing the office and training counseling interns. She also has a small private practice and serves as a consultant for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles under the Office of Life, Justice and Peace developing the Merciful Companion Ministry.
