Episode Description

Kathryn interview New York Times bestselling author Firoozeh Dumas, author of “It Ain’t So Awful, Falafel”. Her latest book is based on her own experiences emigrating from Iran to Newport Beach in the 1970’s and how she had to balance being a normal teenage girl with overcoming stereotypes stemming from a tense Iran-American relationship. Dumas is a frequent commentator on NPR and her work appears in The NY Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Los Angeles Times.
Kathryn also interviews Harvard trained OB-GYN Amy Tuteur MD, author of “Push Back: Guilt in the Age of Natural Parenting”. Dr. Tuteur shows that most of the scientific claims of natural childbirth, breastfeeding and attachment parenting gurus are at best overstated and have all become big business, with a multitude of products and service providers who stand to profit from the false claims. Dr. Tuteur is featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and on NPR.
