The buzz: “This is the era of the Internet of Things (IoT)—and it promises to change our lives completely” [www.digitalistmag.com/iot/2017/02/06/promise-of-internet-of-things-04888745). Intel predicts that by 2020 there will be 200 billion connected devices on the Internet of Things. Yes, IoT is already revolutionizing manufacturing, transportation, consumer electronics, healthcare, and construction. But what is its real value for businesses, citizens, the economy, the environment – and where will it have the most significant impact? What is the rate of change, especially with 5G versus 4G? The experts speak. Mark Albrecht, itelligence: “Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen” (John Steinbeck). Corinna Kramer, SAP: “I hate to commit it, but this has been one of the hardest things to discover” (Astronaut Alexander Gerst).
