Episode Description

Demitri and his guest, interior designer Sandra Espinet, discuss the signature lifestyle look and feel that Sandra describes as "The Well-Traveled Home." Sandra inspires us with the discoveries she makes on her exotic journeys and how her designs first become formulated in her own home before finding their place in the mix of the alluring interiors she creates for her clients. Next Demitri and his guest, Christine Haney of British wallpaper and paint company Farrow & Ball, discuss the craftsmanship behind the luxury brand established in 1946. Christine introduces F&B’s ethereal wallpapers — a blend of British and Japanese heritage designs — and explains why this new product line epitomizes the relaxed sophistication of Southern California’s resort lifestyle. Demitri and Christine then share ideas about current design trends and how to create a color scheme with a sense of flow by considering the light, space, and architecture of a room.

Whether designing in the neutral palates for the collections he has shepherded or in the rich color statements he creates for his private clients, Demitri's respect for timeless tradition, quality, and attention to detail is ever-present in his work. His interest and passion for history, art and design as well as an appreciation for the esthetic values across cultures inspires him to be a dynamic host of Matters of Design.
